TRANSLATING

   I have been doing translating jobs for more than 10 years. I’ve had most experience in translating texts on economic, financial and legal subjects, as well as a lot of marketing and business-related documents. As I have a degree in Business studies, specialized in European Union economy, I also have an insight and knowledge about these areas.

   I mostly translate from Hungarian to English and vice versa, but I also have experience in translating from Hungarian to French, French to Hungarian, as well as from English to French and vice versa.

   Perhaps the most challenging translating job that I’ve had so far was the translation of a book written in Hungarian by a well-known Hungarian orientalist, Róbert Simon. The title of the book was Ibn Khaldun: History as Science and the Patrimonial Empire. It was a 290-page-long study about the founder of the historical discipline, an Arab scientist called Ibn Khaldun. It was a very theoretical and philosophical text, therefore it required special attention and focus to translate to English. The English translation was published by Akadémiai Kiadó (Akadémiai Publishers) in 2002.
